Week focus: Organization and PBIS Review
Tuesday/Wednesday- Show the AVID Binder Check videos, pick the best example in the class, and play "Musical Binders" to fill out the Check Sheet... Pride Points for a high score!
Week focus: Empathy and Cornell Notes
Monday- Begin Empathy- take the short quiz, and watch two of the videos on empathy.
Tuesday- Pick an article from your grade's article page and review text marking strategies- read and mark.
Wednesday-Continue/finish reading the article, and use Cornell Strategies to review the article, using the 10-24-7 guidelines.
Thursday- We will focus on MLK day next week, but since it will have technically passed, visit the page and watch a video or two about his life. Possibly begin with a brainstorm on what students know about Civil Rights.
Week focus: MLK
Tuesday/Wednesday- Spend time in the vocabulary section of MLK's page... click on each word, watch the videos, and discuss how these connect to empathy.
Thursday- Pick another article to read aloud as a class, or if time, print off and highlight vocabulary.
Friday- Morning: Review assembly expectations for this more serious assembly!
PM- All school assembly with a short presentation from the Leadership Class and the current Miss Washington, Lizzie Jackson, who will share her personal story of perseverance and speak to the values of Dr. King.
Week focus: AVID and History Day
Monday- Check in on Missing Assignments
Tuesday- Time for another Binder Check!
Wednesday- Pick one last article or video about empathy, and read/watch it, then just have a chat... what is empathy? Why is it imporant? If you haven't watched Perspectacles yet... do it.
Friday- Backpack Clean out! Yup- dump them out, throw stuff away, eat old candy, and lighten those loads.
