Jan. 31 - Feb. 3Week focus: Teaching Self-Discipline
Tuesday- AVID Binder Checks and missing assignment reports. Students have new classes but may already be behind! Take this time to update planners with what they have going on this week.
Wednesday- Begin self-discipline. On each grade's homesite there is a 'begin here' button that will lead you to two days worth of videos and short readings to help your kids understand what does it mean to be self-disciplined? Thursday- Extended HC- Students will be called down by grade level to set up their History Day boards and Art Show work. Continue self-discipline lessons by reading an article or watching a few videos and strategizing where kids can practice discipline in school, sports, and home. Friday- Play a game with your students- team up with another Home Court for Sharks and Minnows, ask Mr. Carson to borrow the litter pickers and walk around the field collecting trash, or ask Ballew or Hancock to get out our Baker Corn Hole boards to play with. Half way through the year, even see who can learn all of the first and last names of everyone in the room! Feb. 6- 10Week Focus: Black History Month
Monday- Binder checks! It's a new semester, so what can we save and what should we toss? Remember, we have SLCs coming up in about 6 weeks and students will show some of their Best Works to parents, so don't toss anything they may want to share- instead put it in your HC binder! Tuesday- Head to the questions page and put kids on the spotlight to answer some funny and personal questions about themselves. Then, introduce a larger Black History Month activity- choose from a class slide show, poster projects, bios, or quote analyses. Wednesday- Continue project work. Thursday- Continue project work. Friday- Last day for project work- presentations next week! |
