Prioritizing

Priority 1: Teaching Empathy
Empathy is a character trait that ties us together as a human race, however, understanding others is not only a human trait, but a trait embedded into animals as well.  Learn about practicing empathy through some of the tear jerking articles and videos this January.

Priority 2: MLK
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. not only fought for the civil rights of black people in our country, but for the rights of any oppressed peoples in this world through non-violent action.  Please look at the Vocabulary pages, as each dives into the historical events surrounding our past and the language we still hear today.

          Priority 3:             AVID Review
Review AVID strategies, like SLANT, Cornell Notes, and text marking this month as students learn about empathy.
AVID Review
     Priority 4:         Resolutions
Take time to review students' resolutions from before break, or make new ones with the fun activities that involve goal setting, but dressed up to trick the kids :)
Resolutions
         Priority 5:           PBIS Reminder
Take some time to play PBIS Bingo in order to jog the memory of our school wide expectations.  Feel free to walk the halls and demonstrate examples, and non-examples, with your students of how we act as Grizzlies.
