Men and women are serving our country, protecting our freedoms and the freedoms of others all over the world. A tough time to be away from home for most, hand written cards of gratitude are appreciated and cherished by their recipients.
Your letters will cheer a current servicemen/woman, or possibly a veteran in recovery.
The letters don't need an envelope, address, or even a stamp! Just encourage thoughtful and generous thanks from your students, put them in a manila envelope, and send them to the address to the right.

If you have ever been in the hospital, you know it is usually uncomfortable, boring, and often, a little scary. Kids love getting mail, and sending well wishes, coloring pages, word searches, and your favorite quotes of encouragement will definitely brighten their days!
This website offers awesome suggestions for those students who don't know exactly what to write- http://www.cardsforhospitalizedkids.com/make-general-cards.html
Please mail your cards here- in one big envelope is great :). They will be sent all over the country to Children's hospitals and Ronald McDonald houses.

Within about two blocks of our school there are 6 different retirement homes! Get permission slips for a walking field trip to deliver cards to those people living so near to us that may be alone this holiday season.
Remember, cards should not directly relate to a particular holiday, but can include quotes of encouragement, gratitude, questions, and basic information from the students. Hand drawn pictures are also very much enjoyed, and a 'From Mt. Baker Middle School' is a fantastic way to sign off over personal names.
Creating paper chain decorations is also a fun contribution to a retirement or nursing home.
Here are the addresses of those homes nearest our school if mailing is preferred:
